A world leader in the field, his research and teaching expertise is in debt markets, private equity evaluation and performance measurement; private equity secondaries; collateralised loan obligations and pricing of accounting information in secondary debt markets. He co-authored two books, International Private Equity and Private Capital, with Eli Talmor.

Experience

Founding partner and Chairman of Vision Knight Capital, David Wei, has around 20 years of experience in the investment, management and operation in China. Before founding Vision Knight Capital, David was the CEO of Alibaba Limited for five years. Alibaba is a global leading E-commerce company, which David successfully led the listing of on the Hong Kong stock exchange in 2007.

David worked in Kingfisher Plc. from 2000 to 2006, a leading home improvement retailer in Europe and Asia. He was the CFO then CEO of B&Q China, a subsidiary of Kingfisher plc. Prior to that, David was head of investment banking for Orient Securities Co. and then corporate finance manager at Coopers & Lybrand (now part of PricewaterhouseCoopers).

Ranked as one of China’s Best CEOs by Financial Asia magazine in 2010, David was the vice president of China Chain Store & Franchise Association and is a Director of PCCW Limited.

Mounir (“Moose”) Guen is the Chief Executive Officer of MVision, founded in 2001. Moose is a veteran fundraising specialist and adviser with 30 years of experience, having worked on over 350 General Partnership funds. Selected as one of Private Equity’s 100 most influential personalities of the decade in 2011, he led MVision to become one of the leading private equity capital raising firms.

A member of the NYU President's Global Council and the Liberal Studies Dean’s Council, he is a faculty member at London Business School and is a mentor on the Hong Kong University MBA Mentorship Programme.

Experience

Seungha Ku is a partner at private equity fund of funds group within CreditEase Wealth Management based in Hong Kong, responsible for offshore private equity investments.

Before joining CreditEase, Seungha was a Vice President with Grosvenor Capital Management, a U.S. alternative investments firm with US$50 billion of assets under management. At Grosvenor, Seungha was responsible for sourcing, evaluating and investing in private equity funds and co-investments on behalf of institutional clients.

Prior to Grosvenor, Seungha worked as an Associate at Credit Suisse’s Private Equity Group, which managed US$30 billion of client commitments. Here he was responsible for evaluating and executing on global private equity fund investments and co-investments.

Ahead of his position at Credit Suisse, Seungha was an Analyst in Macquarie Capital’s Investment Banking Group in New York.

In this role, Seungha provided financial advisory for mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and private placements for corporates and investors in the utilities and energy sectors. During his professional career, Seungha evaluated several hundred private equity investment opportunities and managed over US$1 billion across a number of funds and co-investments.

Seungha graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and studied at Tsinghua University through study abroad program.

Kevin is the co-founder and Managing Partner of Validus Risk Management, a market risk advisory firm and technology provider specialising in the private capital markets. Kevin started his career in Switzerland, trading currencies and commodities for multinational corporations including Alcan (Rio Tinto) and Dow Chemical. An adviser to the alternative asset management sector since 2007, Kevin has pioneered the use of innovative financial hedging tools and strategies for the private equity, private credit, and infrastructure and real estate markets. Kevin holds an MBA from McGill University in Montreal and is a mentor for the Memorial University Student Investment Fund in Newfoundland, Canada.

He has deep expertise in retail, corporate and institutional banking from work in the United States, Europe and Asia-Pacific, and brings extensive experience in restructuring, cost management, large-scale reorganisation and transformation.
